Graduate prosthodontics
EVOLUTION OF THE PROGRAM
Since its establishment, the UCLA Advanced Prosthodontics Graduate Program has evolved into an internationally recognized and respected accredited postgraduate certificate program, shaping and developing the future minds of the field of prosthodontics. The three-year curriculum prepares its residents with a strong, evidenced-based rationale in the process of diagnosing patients and providing them with customized treatment plans.
COMPLEX TREATMENT PLANNING & EXECUTION
The residents typically work with extremely dentally complex, long term treatment patients, which often requires a multi-disciplinary approach. They learn how to coordinate treatment between the disciplines in order to comprehensively treat a patient, working closely with the UCLA Periodontal, Oral Surgery, Orthodontic, Endodontic, and Radiologic Departments in order to best execute a restoratively driven treatment plan. Residents also have a golden opportunity to work intimately with the in-house and local laboratories, as well as our own digital resources in order to fabricate prostheses.
THE DIGITAL FRONTIER
As residents become acquainted with the conventional methods of fabricating prostheses, they also learn to utilize digital resources that are becoming very popular today! Residents plan fully-guided implant surgeries, learn how to create stackable guides, and have top-of-the-line 3D printers and mills at their disposal in order to fabricate surgical templates and provisionals and more in order to aid in treating patients. Our resident doctors also learn how to use the latest technologies available in order to utilize them to provide advanced treatment.
THE CUTTING EDGE OF RESEARCH
Residents are encouraged to participate in research during their time at UCLA, as they have the incredible opportunity to work with world-renowned scientists and practitioners in order to test their hypotheses and flesh out the answers to questions and ideas. UCLA Residents frequently present at National and International Conferences and publish their completed works which address clinically relevant issues and make a positive impact on dental practices, world-wide.
